Abundance will emerge in Texas

Texas may be the only place on Earth with the right conditions to cultivate an hyper-abundant society.
Abundance will emerge in Texas

As per the previous writings (Roadblocks to Abundance, Preserving Market Forces in an Abundant Future, Foundations of Abundance): to have an abundant economy emerge requires:

  1. A very Capitalistic economy
  2. Lots of natural resources
  3. A system for citizens to participate in the post-autonomy future
  4. The will to build

Texas may be the only place on Earth with the right conditions in the near future.

Some places will be more blessed than others

California has the best hand ever dealt to a region (natural resources, abundant sunlight, a vast coastline, fertile valleys, oil, manufacturing, high-tech industry, capital markets, etc). But they are absolutely fumbling it by not allowing people to build anything.

China seems to flirt with Capitalism but keeps walking back. That will prevent them from the necessary conditions to grow the productivity levels to the heights required for abundance.

Europe has the wealth, but not the will to build, nor all the natural resources.

The Gulf States have the wealth, the right economic system, the will to build, but they aren't unified, nor do they have the fertile soil necessary (yet).

India as well as parts of Africa and South America are rapidly developing but they have a ways to go.

Russia...I don't even know where to start.

Evidence that Texas is the right place

Texas produces over 1/4 of the energy produced in the US (source). Texas also has seen energy prices improve relative to everywhere else in the country. As other grids see skyrocketing wholesales costs of energy during heat waves and increased data center demand, Texas is seeing relatively stable prices that get lower on hot days (due to increased solar installations).

ERCOT (Texas's electric grid organization) has created the most competitive and transparent energy market in the US, leading to lower prices.

Texans have a focus on profit more than other US cultures. The almighty dollar tends to override any ideological squeamishness that may prevail on the day. Profit motive will drive prices down and is fundamental to abundance.

Texas has immense mineral and petroleum wealth that'll be necessary to self-sustain while cultivating abundance.

Texas has a large coastline, so unlimited fresh water is possible as energy continues to become cheaper.

Texans have a culture of doing it yourself, and a pride in always outdoing and leading the rest of the US in important advancements. Without Texas there's no moon landing. Without Texas there's no US energy independence. ERCOT is currently trailblazing the future of electric grids that can handle abundance clean energy.

It will start soon

Automation from self-driving cars, robotics, AI will start driving down prices for things that matter to hardworking everyday people.

The self-driving cars will be the most visible and understandable change in the near future. When you can take a ride anywhere in any city for less than a bus ticket, and the company is actually making money, suddenly everything changes.

This will also happen with energy, housing, food, water, etc as we apply abundant energy, intelligence, and robotic labor towards making more stuff.

Immigration pressure

People always migrate to where the quality of life is higher (lower costs, more opportunities, etc). As abundance emerges in Texas, people will want to immigrate even more than they do today.

Spreading the good word

Once politicians in other states see the abundance in Texas and their own people leaving, they will emulate the model to attract people back.

The fastest to adopt will see the same results. My guess is that smaller, high agency states (like Wyoming) will partner with Texas (which will have more natural resources and industrial base), to smooth trade and help spread the bubble of abundance to their state.

It won't stop in the US, every country on Earth will try to copy the model.

Texas will eat the world.
